Concepcion Champions NAVAL formed the nucleus of the
Chilean team for the 1952 Olympics and was only reinforced
with a few younger players from Universidad
Catolica and Colo Colo. Several of the players featured on
this photo would be “Olympians” a few months later. You
can read the full story in the book “Memorias de un
Navalino” which you can find in Volume 6 - Chile - N°
123”. As the team only got together three weeks before the
games and managed to play just two friendly games before,
the 4-5 defeat against Egypt seems to be not too bad.
