Soccer has been played in Germany for over 100 years, professional soccer for almost 50 years. Posters announcing games are as old as the game itself.
For decades, spectators' admission fees were the clubs' greatest source of income, and posters were an indispensable means of advertising. As an important interface between the club and the spectators, these mostly beautifully designed contemporary witnesses hung on advertising pillars and billboards until the 1970s and 1980s. They are remembered as unique informants.
A means of communication that has only lost its importance rapidly in recent years.
This book aims to bring them back to life, the games and the old days of football, when the game announcement poster was the most important link between clubs and fans. On the basis of what is probably the largest private collection of football posters by Stefan Barta and loans of inestimable value from many clubs, which let us dream and take us on a wonderful journey through time, into the past of football.
