O Associação Atlética Mackenzie College from Sao Paulo was founded on the 18th of August 1898 and has the distinction of being the FIRST Brazilian club founded by and for Brazilians in the country.
Mackenzie was also one of the founder members of the FIRST ever League in Brazil, “La Liga Paulista de Futebol”. On 3.5.1902 they played the FIRST ever League game in the history of Brazilian soccer when they met
Germania in the opening game of the Paulista Championship. Eppingaux, one of the founding members, got himself into the historybooks when he scored the FIRST ever goal in a League game in Brazil.
After 13 Paulista championships and a shortlived merger with Portuguesa the club ceased to exist in 1923.
