Soccer :
A PARKBOY REMEMBERS COLTS
Roy L. Austin
This essay concentrates on Colts, an exceptionally successful soccer team on the Caribbean Island of St. Vincent. The club only existed for three years (1949-1951), but won the two major trophies on the island (the Verral Shield and the Cup) in each of those three seasons.
Almost all of these footballers were reared in lower status homes in lowly regarded neighbourhoods. But they had ready access to a playing field, ‘The Park’, frequently used for major sporting events.
